Tucked into the extreme southwest corner of the province, Waterton, named in honour of British naturalist Charles Waterton, was first declared a Federal Reserve in 1895 and then a Dominion Park in 1910 and finally a National Park in 1911. Waterton Lakes National Park comprises an area of 525 sq km (325.5 sq. mi.) and abuts Glacier National Park in Montana. In 1995 UNESCO declared Waterton a World Heritage Site. Although relatively small for a national park, this exquisite gem offers spectacular mountain and prairie scenery.
The unspoiled Waterton Townsite is the jump-off point for this lovely park. Outdoor enthusiasts will be entranced with the hiking, climbing and camping opportunities. We offer 16 powered sites, 10 non serviced sites by the lake and many more tenting sites - some by the lake or nestled in our Caraganas. Our gravel padded sites have new grass growing, power, picnic table and an amazing view of the Rockies. We are on a farm near Mountain View off of the main highway.
