St. Paul, with a population of almost 5,200 people, is located on Highway 28 about 200 km (124.3 mi.) northeast of Edmonton. Nestled in the middle of agricultural land, St. Paul's economy consists of agriculture, oil & gas, and the service industry.

St. Paul is well known for having the World's First UFO Landing Pad. Tourists will find the town's information centre in the UFO Data Center next to the Pad. The UFO exhibit downstairs is designed to educate, and displays photos and stories of UFOs. St. Paul is also known for its multicultural population, which proudly hosts a number of events each year featuring French, Ukrainian, or First Nations cultures. Western themes run through the Labour Day weekend Lakeland Rodeo Association Finals. The town is also located in Alberta's lake district, with natural recreational activities nearby.
