Located in the famous Alberta Heartland, Lacombe was historically settled by several clerics during the mid 1900s. Christian missionaries of various sects arrived challenging the fur traders for territorial possession. One of the more prominent missionaries was Albert Lacombe after whom the town was named.
The Blacksmith Shop Museum, built in 1902, exhibits interesting cultural heritage remaining as it originated during pioneer times. It is one of only two Blacksmith Shops in Alberta standing on the original site, painstakingly restored with its original implements and tools.
The Gallery on Main exhibits Central Alberta's largest selection of local original artwork comprised of custom framing, pottery, paintings, sculpture, and glass.
Don't miss Ellis Bird Farm, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of Mountain Bluebirds, Tree Swallows and other native-to-Alberta birds that nest in cavities of trees.
Lacombe accommodations offer a wide selection ranging from quaint bed & breakfasts to hotels. For those who prefer the ruggedness of outdoors, there are many top quality campgrounds to choose from.
