St. Albert is a city of around 57,000 people living just northwest of Edmonton and is actually a fairly affluent suburb of Edmonton. Its history dates back to before it became an official village in 1900, and by 1977 it had developed into a city.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the 1,100 acres of greenspace and more than 34 (21.1 mi.) of trails in the city of St. Albert. The Outdoor Farmers' Market, which between July and September draws over 10,000 people every Saturday, is located downtown. Over 40,000 participants are entertained by puppetry, music, dance, and theatre at the annual International Children's Festival each May. And almost 6,000 people are entertained at the Rock'n August music and hot rod festival. The rest of the year the Arden Theatre provides entertainment. Sports facilities can be found at Servus Credit Union Place, the multi million dollar leisure centre. And overtones of the wild west can be found at the annual Kinsmen Rainmaker rodeo which starts with a parade and includes a midway and musical concerts as well as the rodeo.
St. Albert offers a variety of accommodations at bed & breakfasts, hotels and 1 RV/campgrounds.
