Located west of Edmonton on Hwy 16, Stony Plain is home to more than 20 life-size murals. These have been provided by Alberta artists and highlight this unique community with a population of approximately 10,000.
A multicultural centre and most important, Oppertshauser House, which is a living museum and antique facility. An outstanding Pioneer Museum illustrating the region's historical heritage is a must-stop. Also in the unusual category, is a peaceful garden with flowers designed as a token to Stony Plain's sister town of Shikaoi, Japan. Raku and clay pottery created by regional potters, adorns the museum.
