215 km (133.6 mi.) northeast of Calgary and 307 km (190.8 mi.) southeast of Edmonton, at the junction of Highways # 9 and #36, lies the town of Hanna. In the town of almost 3,000 people there are around 200 businesses, partly because Hanna is in the middle of the trading area called Short Grass Country. The economy is driven by agriculture, oil, coal mining, and tourism. Considering its size, a surprisingly large number of politicians, entertainers and well known personalities have come from Hanna.

Many public buildings in Hanna display local artist's handiwork in the form of murals of Canada Geese, cowboys and the Old West. The Hanna Museum and Pioneer Village displays thousands of beautiful antiques and artifacts in historic buildings in town. The Doll Palace offers views of over 4,000 dolls made by over 75 doll companies starting in the early 1900's. Hungry visitors may satisfy their appetites at a local restaurant or at the Alberta Approved Farmer's Market which opens May long weekend and offers fresh produce and crafts all summer till the end of September.

Enjoy some Short Grass Country hospitality at one of Hanna's 2 bed & breakfasts, hotels and RV/campgrounds.

The cabins are located off the highway, situated on Fox Lake. From the large deck the scenery is breathtaking. Taking in the view from the deck one would never know they were a mere 3 km from the town of Hanna. We supply all linen, a complete kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, toaster and coffee maker.
