Kananaskis Accommodations
Kananaskis Alberta Travel Information
Kananaskis is a 45-minute drive from Calgary and Banff and is an extensive protected recreation area in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Visitors to the Kananaskis Valley along Highway 40 enjoy spectacular mountain scenery and opportunities to pursue numerous outdoor activities both close in and farther out in the wilderness of the backcountry.
Excellent hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, horseback riding, golfing at a 36 hole world-class course, canoeing, kayaking, white water rafting and relaxing are popular in the summer. In the winter, there is world class downhill skiing at the Nakiska Ski Resort, home to the alpine events during the 1988 Olympics. Groomed cross-country skiing trails are close to Kananaskis Village.
