Around 250 km (155.3 mi.) northeast of Edmonton in Alberta's lake district and prairie parkland is the small town of Bonnyville. Named after its first colonizing priest Rev Father F.S. Bonny, in 2007 Bonnyville celebrates the 100th anniversary of the arrival of its first settlers. The celebration will be held in partnership with Canada Day celebrations on July 1st. The community has grown to almost 6,000 residents, largely due to the bountiful agricultural lands and more recently the oil and gas industry.

Jessie Lake can be found at the southern end of town. Bonnyville is located near rich birding wetlands that offer chances to sight members of almost 200 bird species including blue herons, cranes, geese, and ducks, among others. Many tourists also enjoy the many neighboring lakes and rivers which hold a variety of sport fish, and present swimming, boating and hiking opportunities. Golfers will enjoy the Bonnyville Golf and Country Club. And cowboys at heart turn out to watch the annual rodeo and to enjoy its pancake breakfast, parade, and chili cook off. The Lakeland Music Festival livens up the summer air at the end of July.

Bonnyville offers lakeland hospitality with bed & breakfasts, hotels and campgrounds.

Newly renovated rooms conveniently located in the heart of downtown Bonnyville. Comfortable accommodation consisting of fridges, microwaves, Flat screen TVs, and wireless Internet in every room. Kitchenettes are also available. Across the street from grocery stores, restaurants and banks. On-site laundry.
