Vegreville, Alberta is located 103 km (64 mi.) east of Edmonton.

Father Valentin Vegreville is the source of the town's name, chosen by French-Canadian families who were early settlers. Over time, Vegreville's population grew to include a large number of people of Ukrainian descent, indicated by the presence of the world's largest pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg).  It was erected in 1974 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Vegreville has many events and festivals during the year that include a country fair, country music jamboree, Christmas parade and more.

Vegreville accommodations include hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds.
